چکیده

discussion the reason is that we assess the relative and not absolute differences of the tracer uptake in this imaging modality. there may be other findings on mpi images which could help us overcome this pitfall, including detecting wall motion abnormalities, lung uptake of the tracer, or transient ischemic dilation. another important issue is the ecg changes during exercise stress testing, which could point to a more extensive coronary artery disease than the one detected on mpi images alone. case presentation a 67-year-old man underwent exercise electrocardiography (ecg)-gated single-photon emission computed tomography (spect) myocardial perfusion imaging (mpi) for evaluating his mild dyspnea on exertion (new york heart association class i). images showed inducible ischemia of severe intensity in the interior walls and moderate intensity in the apicoseptal and anteroseptal segments, but exercise stress to induce coronary hyperemia revealed marked st-segment depressions in low heart rates and the patient complained of only mild dyspnea during these ecg changes. he subsequently underwent coronary angiography, which revealed left main and severe three-vessel disease. this discrepancy between the spect perfusion images and the extent of coronary artery disease in this case represents the masking of one ischemic territory (left system) by another more severely ischemic territory (right system). introduction electrocardiography (ecg)-gated single-photon emission computed tomography (spect) myocardial perfusion imaging (mpi) for the diagnosis and prognosis of coronary artery disease (cad) is the most commonly performed imaging procedure in nuclear cardiology.

Diagnostic Value of Ankle Brachial Index for Myocardial Ischemia in Asymptomatic Diabetic Patients and Comparison with Myocardial Perfusion Imaging

Objective: The ankle-brachial index (ABI) as a simple test which can detect peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Therefore in this study we try to evaluate the diagnostic value of ABI for silent myocardial ischemia in diabetic patients and compare the results with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) results. Materials and Methods: All 149 diabetic patients in this study were categorized according...

Panic attack triggering myocardial ischemia documented by myocardial perfusion imaging study. A case report

UNLABELLED BACKGROUND Chest pain, a key element in the investigation of coronary artery disease is often regarded as a benign prognosis when present in panic attacks. However, panic disorder has been suggested as an independent risk factor for long-term prognosis of cardiovascular diseases and a trigger of acute myocardial infarction. OBJECTIVE Faced with the extreme importance in differen...

Myocardial Perfusion SPECT Imaging in Dextrocardia with Situs Inversus: A Case Report

Dextrocardia is a cardiac positional anomaly in which the heart is located in the right hemithorax with its base-to-apex axis directed to the right and caudad. Situs inversus is an autosomal recessive disorder that causes organs in the chest and abdomen to be positioned in a mirror image from their normal position. Dextrocardia may occur in isolation or as part of situs inversus. Similarly, sit...

Filter selection for 99mTc-Sestamibi myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging [Persian]

Myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging with Tc99m-sestamibi is the most accurate non-invasive means of detecting coronary artery disease and assessing the severity of perfusion abnormalities in the patients with coronary stenosis. Though simple and straight forward the results produced by the technique is very much affected by the details being used. One of the main problems with the test, wh...

Dynamic myocardial CT perfusion imaging for evaluation of myocardial ischemia as determined by MR imaging.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility of computed tomography (CT)-based dynamic myocardial perfusion imaging for the assessment of myocardial ischemia and infarction compared with cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). BACKGROUND Sequential myocardial CT perfusion imaging has emerged as a novel imaging technique for the assessment of myocardial hypoperfusion. METHODS ...

Myocardial Perfusion Spect Imaging in Dextrocardia: A Case Report

UNLABELLED The myocardial perfusion scintigraphy acquisition and analysis present some technical differences in the rare dextrocardia cases. Here we report a case of a 38 year-old woman with dextrocardia who had been applied myocardial perfusion scintigraphy. Presented case showed that the thoracic and abdominal organs had a mirror image with situs inversus totalis type dextrocardia. The incide...
